GO Transit service to resume on Milton line, Hamilton GO station on Monday

After a railway labour dispute late last week sent thousands of commuters scrambling for alternatives, Metrolinx has confirmed that service on the Milton GO line and at Hamilton GO Centre will resume on Monday.
“We want to thank all customers for their patience during the labour disruption and look forward to resuming normal service,” a Metrolinx spokesperson told the Star.
Metrolinx added there may be some adjustments to schedules throughout the day as they work to restore normal service.
GO Transit customers are encouraged to check their website before travelling for updated service times.
On Aug. 22, Canadian National Railway Co. and Canadian Pacific Kansas City Ltd. locked out more than 9,000 workers, triggering a national work stoppage that affected freight traffic as well as 30,000 commuters in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver.
That same night, federal Labour Minister Steven KacKinnon said he would direct the Canadian Industrial Relations Board to impose binding arbitration. The board ruled Saturday that affected trains must start operating again Monday.
The Teamsters union representing workers is pledging to appeal the ruling in court.
